BIM Framework The BIM Framework includes a large number of conceptual models developed as part of an ongoing research covering BIM, performance assessment and improvement...The intention of this site is to invite discussion around each of these models and how they can be adapted, generalised or extended.
BIM Excellence Building Information Modelling Excellence (BIMe) is a unique approach to measure and improve the BIM performance of individuals, organizations and project teams. Based on extensive research and testing, BIMe uses specialized measurements to identify actual BIM Capability (the ability to deliver a BIM service) and BIM Maturity (how good that service really is). For more information about BIM Capability and Maturity, please refer to Episode 13.
ChangeAgents AEC ChangeAgents AEC is a consultancy alliance based in Australia and focusing on Building Information Modelling, data interoperability and process integration.
NATSPEC BIM Portal NATSPEC is a not-for-profit organisation that is owned by the design, build, construct and property industry through professional associations and government property groups (Australia). The BIM portal holds several documents including the NATSPEC National BIM Guide and the NATSPEC BIM Management Plan Template.
Australian Institute of Architects BIM/IPD page This website offers practitioners in the Australian building industry an interface for receiving and exchanging information about BIM and IPD. The website contains support material and links to a variety of BIM and IPD related topics that may be useful for your practice. Background: The AIA and CA formed a BIM and IPD Steering Group in mid 2011 with leading experts from architecture, engineering and construction. The purpose of this group is to provide support and to develop guiding documents for practitioners in the Australian building industry. The Steering Group has formed four Working Groups to jointly produce material that will be managed and updated via this website
InPro InPro - Open Information Environment for Knowledge-based Collaborative Processes throughout the Lifecycle of a Building - is an industry-led collaborative research project aiming at the early design phase of a building. It is part-funded by the European Commission under framework program 6. It is a four-year project that started 1 September 2006. 20 partners are involved, representing nine countries across Europe.
Australian National Guidelines for Digital Modelling and its Case Studies Section 1 provides an overview of BIM: how it affects the current mode of working, what needs to be done to move to fully collaborative model-based facility development. It discusses the role of open standards such as IFC, digital collaboration modes, types of models, levels of detail, object properties and model management. Section 2 provides recommendations for key areas of model creation and development, simulation and performance measurement. The guidelines are supported by six case studies including a summary of lessons learnt about implementing BIM in Australian building projects.
BIM Project Execution Planning Guide This BIM Project Execution Planning Guide is a product of the BIM Project Execution Planning buildingSMART alliance™ (bSa) Project...This guide was developed to provide a practical manual that can be used by project teams for designing their BIM strategy and developing a BIM Project Execution Plan [and] to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of BIM implementation on projects.
buildingSmart alliance buildingSMART alliance™ has been established to coordinate the profound constructive changes coming to the fragmented real property industry in North America. The collective goal is open interoperability and full lifecycle implementation of building information models. The focus is to guarantee lowest overall cost, optimum sustainability, energy conservation and environmental stewardship to protect the earth's ecosystem.
IfcWiki -an open portal The IfcWiki is an open portal to publish and share information about IFC, it is not an offical site of the IAI. However the IAI acknowledges the importance of an open knowledge base around its products, such as IFC, and supports this initiative - includes lists of software, publications and related events
The Information Delivery Manual IDM captures (and progressively integrates) business process and provides detailed specifications of the information a BIM user requires to fulfill a particular role within a project.
ITC Digital Library - scholarly publications "The ITC Digital Library has an ambition to provide a single point of entry to scholarly and research publication from the domain of construction informatics alias construction information technology. We believe that works, in full text, should be available for free, to the researchers, students and the industry"
GSA 3D-4D Building Information Modeling "In 2003 the General Services Administration (GSA), through its Public Buildings Service (PBS) Office of Chief Architect (OCA), established the National 3D-4D-BIM Program. OCA has led over 30 projects in its capital program, and is assessing and supporting three dimensional (3D), four-dimensional (4D), and Building Information Modeling (BIM) applications in over 35 ongoing projects across the nation. The power of visualization, coordination, simulation, and optimization from 3D, 4D, and BIM computer technologies allow GSA to more effectively meet customer, design, construction, and program requirements. GSA is committed to a strategic and incremental adoption of 3D, 4D, and BIM technologies"
BIM Guidelines - NBIMS (American) NBIMS (the National Building Information Model Standard project), is a committee of the National Institute for Building Sciences (NIBS) Facility Information Council (FIC). Since 1992 the FIC mission has been to "improve the performance of facilities over their full life-cycle by fostering common and open standards and an integrated life-cycle information model for the A/E/C & FM industry.
BIM Resources @ Georgia tech The Design Computing Group, and AEC Integration Laboratory, led by Professor Charles M. Eastman (Chuck Eastman), at Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech, GT), has significant experience in the field of computer-aided design and manufacturing, solids and parametric modeling, engineering databases, product modeling, design cognition and cognitive science.
SmartGeometry Group Smartgeometry was founded in 2001 as a partnership between Practice, Research and Academia, formed by members of the world's leading architectural and engineering practices and educational institutions.
To the new generations of designers, engineers and architects, mathematics and algorithms are becoming as natural as pen and pencil. Smartgeometry promotes the emergence of this new paradigm in which digital designers and craftsmen are able to intelligently exploit the combination of digital and physical media to take projects from design right through to production.
